This term alone has drawn many to join this most prestigious yet rewarding Fellowship. Many entities have tried and are still trying to replicate the mission of this program someway however, the masterminds of this program seem to have understood the assignment of their calling and are miles far from emerging entities. This fellowship is Africa’s Biggest Hub of Highly Trained Female cybersecurity professionals. It comprises of a highly esteemed team that works tirelessly at the back end to keep the program in steadfast motion to its end.

The 10-month well-coordinated program looks to be quite a short period for one to be transformed into a certified cybersecurity professional. Screening to Join the Military Camp

Just like any application process, cybersafe application phases are not just a drop of rain in the oceans. The phases can comically be termed as Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) meaning, not a one-off application. These phases sheave out the "wanna-be" from the "meant-be-be". The distinction is vividly seen through the total of their scorecard; hard work, Consistency and Dedication. Precisely, let’s highlight the core phases; taking on an essential course & a blind interview. CyberSafe has Zero tolerance for tribalism and segregation upon admitting girls into the fellowship.

Once your luck gets you into the fellowship, be sure that the first two months aren’t a bed of roses. This maiden period helps you to understand why the sun shines in the day and the moon in the night. So many things are bound to change once you are in regarding your social daily living. Reality hits beyond just loving the word “Cyber Girl”. This period uncovers your true motive as to why you joined the fellowship and whether you meant what you said during the blind interview.

The Military Fire Camp

The Fire Camp comprises; senior commanders and lieutenants known as Success Advisors, these are immediate supervisors, and they respond accountably and timely for any help. The Intelligence department comprises both internal and external tutors. Weekly routines such as reporting to the command Centre are paramount, such as attending Cyber Friday Assembly, and frontline soft testing using the CyberSafe ammunition. There are no shortcuts to getting into every rank of the CyberGirls Military Camp, “It either is, or it is what it is”

The most common weapon in the camp is the Cyber Girls Mantra. It has sharp iron edges. Each word in the mantra only sinks in and only makes sense when you realize how much you have overcome, the wounded soldiers, the missiles and grenades you overcame and the soldiers with whom you have made it after winning this Cyber security training battle.

CyberSafe and its undeniable impact on Africa

CyberSafe Foundation has proven its capabilities and servitude beyond the horizons of Africa as a continent;

• With about 500 Girls flagged from different countries, Cyber Safe has empowered girls with no tech background and transformed them into specialized certified professionals; Cloud Security, GRC, SOC analyst, Digital Forensic & TI Analyst. The diamond opportunity rendered by the entity at the entry-level is the web of connections to African countries. Imagine different professionals with different backgrounds all coming together to make a ground invasion and add to the body of Cyber Security.

• There is no doubt that the existence of this fellowship has indirectly had an impact on Africa as a continent. Based on previous research conducted between 2014 – 2020, findings revealed that there was an acute shortage of cyber security professionals in Africa. Ultimately, CyberSafe has tried bridging this gap with the help of a think-tank team that has so far made profound strides in Africa.

• Imagine what solitude of change executed by a pool of trained Cyber Girls and cyber learners, would be their impact in their respective countries? What magnitude of change would be created in Africa after being rendered as a Dark continent with only 24% of Cyber security coverage (knowledge, practice and measures)

• Lastly, the enormous knowledge obtained enables highly trained girls to navigate through cyberspace and brace against any gender stereotypes, influencing policies and regulations in their respective countries and taking up cyber security positions in different entities both continental-wise and globally. 22 countries in Africa statistically means 40% of Cyber security coverage across Africa’s Continent. This is a highly significant change that can’t be underscored.
